ADDING IPHONE WALLPAPERS - PC

Step 1 - Create a Wallpapers Folder

Before downloading any iPhone wallpapers you will need to create a folder on your PC to store all of your iPhone images. If you have already done this then create a sub-folder called ‘Wallpapers’ to store your wallpaper images and go to Step 2.

If you do not have an iPhone images folder then create one in your ‘My Pictures’ folder using Windows Explorer. On your PC Click Start -> My Pictures.

This will open Windows Explorer in the ‘My Pictures’ folder. You may already have folders and images in this folder, however it is recommended that you create a separate folder for your iPhone images.

Using Windows Explorer to creat a folder in My Pictures

Within Windows Explorer Click File -> New -> Folder. A new folder will be created so name it ‘iPhone Images’. This is the folder that all of your iPhone pictures will be stored in (For more information visit Managing Photo Albums).

Double Click the ‘iPhone Images’ folder to open it. Within Windows Explorer Click File -> New -> Folder. A new folder will be created so name it ‘Wallpapers’.

The ‘Wallpapers’ sub-folder will be used to store all of the downloaded wallpapers.

Step 2 – Download Wallpapers To Your PC

The iPhone is designed to view wallpapers that are 320 pixels wide by 480 pixels tall. All wallpapers on www.my-iPhone.com are specifically optimised for the iPhone.

Using Internet Explorer go to www.my-iPhone.com and navigate to a wallpaper that you would like to download. Right-click with your mouse on the large wallpaper image and select ‘Save Picture As…’. Navigate to your ‘Wallpapers’ folder. If you followed Step 1 this will be located in the folder at My Pictures -> iPhone Images -> Wallpapers. Once in the correct folder click ‘Save’

The wallpaper is now saved on your computer. You can download as many wallpapers as you like following the same procedure in Step 2.

Step 3 – Uploading The Wallpapers To Your iPhone

Open iTunes and plug your iPhone so that it synchronises. Once synced click iPhone in the left hand menu under Devices and a new screen will fill the right pane with a number of tabs at the top. Click the ‘Photo’s tab.

iTunes screen showing Photo tab settingsEnsure that ‘Sync photos from:’ is selected and in the box on the right select ‘Choose Folder…’. Navigate to ‘My Pictures’ then ‘iPhone Images’ folder and click ‘OK’. As this is going to be the location of all of your iPhone photos, select the ‘All Photos’ option. The Wallpapers folder created will show and in brackets will be the number of images in the folder.

Click ‘Apply’ in the bottom right to sync and copy all the folders and images located in the ‘iPhone Images’ folder to your iPhone.

Step 4 – Setting A Wallpaper Image on Your iPhone

Setting the Wallpaper on an iPhone

On the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 you can set an image for the Lock Screen and your Home Screen. On the iPhone 3G you can only set an image for the Lock screen.

The Lock screen wallpaper also appears when you’re on a call with someone you don’t have a contact photo for.

Set Wallpaper iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4

In Settings, choose Wallpaper, tap the image of the Lock and Home screens, then scroll down and open the ‘Wallpapers’ album (Note: the folder called ‘Wallpaper’ at the top of the screen is the standard iPhone wallpapers album’).
